Slimming World

NOT a sponsored post

For better or worse, I joined the weight loss programme, Slimming World a couple of weeks ago. I had lost a few pounds before I was first weighed (due to my current life drama's), so its hard to say if my starting weight was a true weight, since I had been living on herbal tea and diet cola.
Anyway, I lost 2lbs in the first week. Not exactly stupendous, but at least it was 2 off and not 2 on. The picture above was tonight's dinner, Lasagne, a recipe from the Slimming World website. Mine was made with quorn mince instead of extra lean beef mince, and the white sauce was a rather healthy fat free yoghurt mixed with 2 eggs and a pinch of nutmeg. It was actually quite good. The serving suggestion was a crisp salad, however we went for green beans and garden peas. Oscar, I can happily report ate a considerable amount and said he loved it. That's a big thumbs up from me then.
I will let you know how next weigh day goes.

Changes

Things are changing at a steady pace here. I am freely admitting that most of them are not for the better, but instead born out of necessity. If I could glue our world back together, I would do it in a heartbeat. My baby (even though he is 5), knows there are things going on all around him but he doesn't know what. I thank the Lord my God for small mercies.

The puppy had to be re-homed. It broke Oscar's heart, he cried like I have never heard him cry before. It fills me with dread for what is to come.

A friend has dragged me to 'Slimming World' in a bid to get me to eat 'SOMETHING' other than cup-a-soup (FYI this breakfast was from about a month ago).

It seems I need to re-home the cats, and then move house ourselves. There are too many things to think about, a whole house to pack, a small boy to comfort, and feed and clothe and reassure that things will be ok, when in reality, I don't know if that is even true.

Kat From Slugs On The Refrigerator

I have been a long time reader of Kat's Blog Slugs On The Refrigerator, and I love her and her family to bits. I was so excited for Kat last year when her first crochet book Crochet At Play was published and I pre ordered it from Amazon as soon as I could. This year I managed to go one better, and when Kat's second book Hook Stitch & Give came out, I travelled the few miles down the road (about 60 miles), and met Kat in person.

It was amazing to meet her after all these years, what a lovely lady she is. I won't lie, there was an element of the surreal, especially when I met her husband and children later in the day. I wanted to pick Georgia up and give her a cuddle, but obviously she has no clue who I am and I expect that would have scared her to death.
I hope we can get together again some time, and maybe Oscar can met Kat's beautiful trio.
Please take a look at her crochet book, it is fabulous.

Full Day Schooler

Painting at Granny's, school tie discarded

Oscar seems to be settling well into school all day. On his first day full time he was crying as we walked home, it was then I realised he had put his shoes on the wrong feet after gym and  his feet were sore. Other than that though it seems to be fairly undramatic. He was hit in the eye with a bouncy ball at lunchtime yesterday and I forgot to put crisps in to his already bulging lunch bag so that were the complaints from Wednesday.
Yesterday was a school free day, since his school is used for voting in the Referendum. I can't say Oscar was sorry in the slightest to miss a day. Not exactly bursting with enthusiasm, but then again, it could be a lot worse.

No Title For This One

Things have changed. I have no ability to explain it. My world has been ripped apart. I am sad and empty. One day I will probably talk about it, but not today. I just wanted to say I am still here, and that counts for a lot.

Do You Have A Disability?

I had to fill out a form recently which asked the usual question, 'do you have a disability?' I hovered over the box for a long time because I never really know how to answer that question. Yes I kind of do, but also no, I do not have a government awarded benefit for a person with disabilities, which I think is what they usually mean, don't they?
I am bone tired today. I am not entirely sure why, but I can probably pin point the parts that make up the sum of it. I didn't sleep too well last night because I have RSL and it was driving me crazy last night, (fyi my Mum has it and so did my maternal Grandmother). I have taken a dose of codeine this morning on waking and my 2nd dose is due now, that makes me tired. I take codeine most days because I have SCIATICA and the Sciatica is caused by DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE. To make the leg and back problems just that bit worse, I also have POST THROMBOTIC SYNDROME, which is the result of a blood clot a few years back. I have also started a new medication for migraines which states, 'will cause drowsiness' on the pack. I am taking the migraine meds at night but they don't seem to help me sleep any better at night and I am still tired in the day.
So no, I don't have a registered disability, but most days I feel fairly debilitated.
