a wee video.

Ok, so I am not the typical You Tube, sleek, shiny, young, hip vlogger, but that's no reason not to have a go.  And, Oscar is the cutest little guy ever.

Thanks For Watching

❤ for the love of a vintage tina ❤

I literally skipped home from the nursery run this morning, because look what I found in the Salvation Army Shop.

wee boy and cat

He loves her. She loves him? Not so much. Alabama (the cat) is getting on for 13 years old, and her tolerance to being squashed and poked and scared half to death by loud screams is seriously on the decline.

Oscar continues to love her despite being scratched and hissed at. Somehow he still thinks she is a kitten (to be fair she is a fairly small cat). I hate to think what will happen when she decides to leave us for a better place (in the sky). Since Oscar is a typical 5 year old, he has already asked for a rabbit when the cat dies !

in the summer time.

We have had all sorts of crazy weather this week. I have gotten a little sun tan on my arms (if you know me, you know that is a virtual impossibility), and I have had to sun screen Oscar for outdoor play at nursery. Despite all of that, it has also been cold and wet on the exact same days.
Last night Duncan and I moved the bedroom furniture around and when we were finished we both had to lie out on the bed with the oscillating fan on full blast.

I guess it is a boring old cliché to live in a country like Scotland and complain constantly about the cold and wet, but lets be honest, 95% of small talk here is dependant on the weather.

Oscar is off nursery with a cold today and is very busy playing Minecraft and I am plotting some knitting projects (on Ravelry) and perusing Ebay for yarn, so I don't think either of us are too fussed about the fluctuations in weather.

Horticulturally speaking, I think this freaky weather streak is exactly what the blooms were hoping for.

transition.

Today and yesterday are transition days for Oscar, this basically means he is having a trial run at being at school. The poor we guy is full of the cold and has been up half the night coughing the last 2 nights.  The transition days seem to be good though.  Yesterday he spent the time in his new classroom, and today he is away to a teddy bears picnic (in the school grounds).

I am fairly certain your last child going to school is just as much of an adjustment for Mama, as it is for the child. I am proud of us both so far.

there was a little sun.

So we skipped along to the park straight from nursery.  I  was very aware that the days of skipping to the park after nursery are fast running out.  Oscar starts school in August, I can hardly believe it!

I have no idea what I am going to do with myself all day when he is gone.  Miss him a whole lot I expect.

Knitting

yarn along

I am knitting blankets for the very early babies again.
My church has taken up this idea as a service project and I am now
so thankful to all the sisters who are knitting for the tiny babies born too soon.
This is just your basic, cast on 3 stitches, and garter stitch each row,
increasing one stitch at each end of every 2nd row
(increasing in the 2nd stitch, not the first).
Once I have the length I want (about 30cm),
I will decrease in the 2nd stitch of every 2nd row.
This little blanket will have a white crochet edge,
and some daisy's added to it.

Now we can all agree that most of the books we buy
our children are actually for ourselves cant we?
Good.
This is the cutest book ever, about a little boy
who asks him Mummy to tell him what she was like when she was small.
The story is sweet, and the illustrations are beautiful
Oscar loves it.

Thanks for stopping by
(FYI I know the blog looks a bit wonky,
my darling husband is going to fix it for me)
