Secret Late Night Behavior

I love it when parcels arrive, and this parcel from Amazon is especially nice because it is to facilitate my secret late night activities.

First I take a bath or a shower and get in to a lovely cosy nightgown.

Then I make myself a drink and some Marmite on Crackers.

And then I crawl into bed and open up my laptop

And indulge in a bit of Gothic silliness

Oscar and I share a room, separated only by some long voiles, so headphones are a must to save him being awakened by the teenage Vampires of New Orleans.

FHE Halloween Week

In our Church we do a thing called Family Home Evening. In essence it is an evening set aside by the church for families to be together. There are no classes or meetings and unless specifically invited the missionaries wont call. We always start with a prayer, but the activities on FHE vary from very Gospel focused to sheer entertainment and fun together. Family things have been hard lately, so we eased back in with a movie night (with some extended family joining us for a change). 'Spooky' of course.

Back With Shoes

The house move went as well as to be expected. I have found places for most of the things I wanted to take, so I am giving myself a pat on the back for ingenuity.

Once I was connected to the internet again, I quickly caught up with my favourite blogs. These shoes, on Paula's blog really took my fancy, especially since I have my first evening out of the season this Friday. Sadly the price tag did not match my wallet. I still had silver party shoes on my mind when I popped into town, and I managed to find a very cute low heel pair, (also wide fit), for the much more friendly price of £6 (from Primark). I love them.

Toodle Pip For Now

We move house tomorrow, so the internet will be off from tonight. I am mostly packed which is no easy task when moving from a small house to a tiny flat. I have downloaded some videos of our Prophet because not only do I like to listen to his talks but perhaps a bit shamefully, he puts Oscar nicely to sleep. We wont have internet (phone or TV) until Wednesday so I will let you know how it all went later next week.

What Not To Say

When someone looks like they have just rolled out of their pyjamas for the first time in a month.

A couple of weeks ago, I managed to get my act together and go to church. I had lots of people offering me their sympathy and help and although it is very nice, its also very difficult to have people being so nice to you when you feel so wretched.
In our church we refer to each other as 'Brothers and Sisters' so when a very sweet but unsuspecting missionary walked over to me at the start of sacrament meeting and boomed 'Hey Sister Beattie, how are ya and what's been the highlight of your week so far', Its fair to say, that was exactly the wrong thing to say.
I think my mouth opened and closed a few times and nothing came out which is really just as well, because in my head, all I could hear was "I FOUND OUT THINGS ABOUT MY HUSBAND THAT NO WIFE WANTS TO HEAR,  AND THEN HE LEFT ME. YES !!!! THAT HAS DEFINITELY BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEK"
Instead, I burst in to tears and fled the scene. I can't decide if its better when people know, or when they don't. I am quite clearly not my normal self, which inevitably prompts some questions (mental note to apologize to the lovely Mummy who asked how I was doing as we waited on miniature chairs outside our children's classroom on parents night).
My saving grace is my son. I need to keep my act together for his sake. Being 5 years old he is mostly oblivious to the finer details of our life changes. He knows we are moving, and once his Daddy had seen where we were moving to he was pacified enough. One day at a time is all I can manage right now.

Home

It looks like I may have found a little flat for the children and myself. There is a view of the sea from the front window and it is a 10 minute walk to Oscar's school, so a big thumbs up for location. The flat itself is very small, (I have been looking a lot at Apartment Therapy in the small spaces section). But all of the organising will take time. Hopefully the contracts will go through today.
Please wish us luck, or say a prayer, whichever is your inclination.

p.s. Oscar is preparing for winter.

** UPDATE **

I signed the contracts this morning, its tiny, like I say,
but hopefully it can feel like home for me

What Happened? The Hardest Post Ever

I have pondered what to say here, or even if I should say anything here, but I have been fairly open about my life over the last few years and I am not big on keeping secrets.
My marriage ended whilst on holiday a month ago. To say I am devastated would be the biggest understatement. Our world has been turned upside down and ripped apart, and as is often the case, the guilty party has appeared to have moved seamlessly on with very little regard for a life he once claimed he cherished.
Anyway that's it. Here are some photo's from the holiday that I just needed to get off the camera, put up on the blog and move on.

As for now, I am looking for a small flat, I will be starting teaching art classes soon, and I am trying to heal myself and my son.
