craft bombed canal.

We saw a little craft bombing while we were Edinburgh. We don't see it here much, so it quite amused me, and Oscar.

It is a bank holiday weekend here, so I have some crafty ideas planned like THESE and THIS and this

I doubt I will get them all made, but I will probably have fun trying.

Have a great bank holiday Monday

A Free Day Out

If you are in Edinburgh and looking for a free day out,
you can't go wrong with the

We spent the whole afternoon there, and did not manage to see everything,
you really can spend the whole day there.
Oscar was not too keen on going,
but when he got there he absolutely loved it,
as you can see ...................

FYI - it was £8 for a burger in the museum cafe,
since it was free entry we left and went to a burger bar
2 minutes up the road and had burgers for less than half the price :-)

I cannot recommend this museum enough,
and not just for children either,
I really enjoyed it too.

Purple Cake

Duncan celebrated his birthday last week,
and as per usual,
Oscar gave the specifications for the birthday cake,
purple and sparkly

It turned out much darker than expected, pretty much due to
the gel food colouring being much more potent than expected.

We sang happy birthday, had some cake and then popped Oscar
off to bed.
Once he was asleep Duncan and I had a 1970's
menu dinner party (Duncan was born in the 1970's)

*
STARTER
Prawn Cocktail

*
MAIN
Steak Diane - with a selection of vegetables

*
DESSERT
Black Forest Gateaux

And alcohol free wine
(this is probably the nicest alcohol free wine I have tried so far)

Don't worry about Oscar missing out on dinner,
he got to lick the icing bowl ;-)

Yarn Along

Knitting

I am currently knitting a snood for myself.
I tried a few patterns out, and ended up not liking them much.
This one, I am making up myself, I am really just keeping my fingers crossed,
since my knitting isnt 100% the best.
The yarn is acrylic (I wouldn't experiment with expensive wool),
and although the picture does not show it too well,
it is white with a sparkle in it.
I figured the acrylic would be lighter for this time of year anyway.
(they are £1 for 1x50g ball or £2 for 3x50g balls from Poundland
(they have a few colours, I bought the navy blue sparkly as well)

Reading

We are lucky enough to live in a nice little suburb with the beach at the end of our street, lots of little cafes, an Italian ice-cream shop and a castle.
We are however part of a fairly large working class city
on Scotland's east coast.
I don't think we could live a life any further removed from the life
the Amish community lives.
I find their whole lifestyle fascinating.
It helps that they live a very Christian life of course,
but that aside, the peaceful simple life still has an amazingly strong draw.
I am enjoying this book, but there is nothing startlingly new in it

If you are interested in the Amish lifestyle this film is good

Chazza Shopping Lately

Sometimes you find things that you are actually looking for,
and sometimes you find things you were looking for
months ago.
Either way, it causes a bit of excitement if the prices are good.

Silver plated ballerina ring holder, 99p - Save The Children
I have wanted a ring holder for ages,
but it was the cone type that I had my eye out for.
I love this one even more,
(I am still looking for a square ballerina jewellery box, circa 1970s)

Wall mounted telephone table, £3.50, Save The Children
(sorry about the crumby photo's, our hallway is very dark)
I have wanted one of these for years and years, and £3.50 is a fabulous price

Vintage Vanity Case £1.99 Oxfam
Again, I have wanted one of these for years,
They sell for silly money plus postage on Ebay,
so I have always resisted.
We have a little road trip coming up in 2 weeks,
and this will be just the ticket

Blouse £2.99 British Heart Foundation

I have been watching a lot of this lately -------->

(the first 68 episodes are on You Tube)
And I felt a bit like channelling an Angie Watts blouse, circa 1985
This blouse isn't vintage, its F&F but I really like it and that's the whole point.

I am sure there are a few things I have bought that I have forgotten
to photograph,
ah well,  I will get to them eventually.

Happy chazza shopping!
If you are so inclined
