I promised prematurely to take a picnic to the beach for lunch yesterday. When I made the promise at 8am there was glorious sunshine. Unfortunately by the time Oscar finished nursery at 11.30am there were big clouds in the sky and not a glimmer of sun. Not being deterred, Oscar insisted that we should still go to the beach, and since it is only 5 minutes from our house, I decided we should at least give it a go.
It was actually not too cold, but not exactly sunbathing weather either. The children did not seem to mind though.
It stayed warm enough for a picnic lunch and a little play in the sand, but by the time our friends left, it began to get a bit too cold for sitting about.

Most other beach goers had the same idea as us, and by the time we left at 2pm it was fairly deserted. Still, that was our first beach picnic of the year, lets hope there are many more to come.
